the title says it all. i want to know what all types of servers are available in the market today for a data center. can someone please throw some light on it?
but how are blade servers different form the servers that you mentioned above? i was told that they are more power efficient. can i get a blade server from any of the above mentioned brand?
From my experience, Dell was popular because of the warranties and the "lego" quality that the insides had. It was extremely painless to manually swap out the whole motherboard, ram, hard drives, RAID cards. Everything had a one-click release to it.
Also for what it's worth, Dell's customer support was actually very good. Once you established that you had done all the troubleshooting that was possible and you had the warranty, they would send out a tech or the replacement part extremely quickly.
For data center servers we use dell PE 2950 quad care 3.0 ghz with 4 x 500 GB orf 4 x 1TB
with either 32 or 16 gb of RAM and Perc6i raid card. Super micros are also good the railing system is easy to mount. the dell blade servers r 410 and 420 with easy mounting are a pair of good one.

At my office we use Dell PE2950 with 32Gb RAM. I dont know about mounting easy as we had a bit of an issue about mounting. Other than that it works perfect.
