I know the energy consumption of a data center is in large part for the cooling of the data center. I read somewhere that at least 45% of all data center energy costs are for the cooling. Is it this high? Or maybe even higher?
This is true. It would matter what type of cooling equipment a data center uses. Of course, if a company has switched to some of the alternative supplies, they could then be using significantly less.
it is true. that is why a lot of companies invest in better cooling techniques which involves better airflow management. a large quantity of cool air is wasted as bypass air. companies take cooling very seriously. there is gr8 demand for hot-cold aisle systems because of this.
