Default Data Centers - handicapped access required ?

Hi,
do your DC's comply with handicapped acceess regulations? Is it neccessary?

I know, that if you can move in racks on wheels, persons on wheelchairs will be able to access to DC too, but the regulations solve more than pure access, it's also emergency exiting and so on.

Our DC will be a commercial DC with 43,000sqft of IT space.

Thanks,

Jan

Jan,

I can't speak for Slovakia, but in the US we need to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act when designing a DC. This includes minimum aisle widths (32") to accommodate wheel chair access, appropriately sloped ramps or wheel chair lifts, etc.

Yup...in the US you have to comply with ADA. Although there is one caviate to it, you have to make a "reasonable" effort to accomdate. Reasonable being up to interpretation in some cases.

Ya I have seen "reasonable" be a wood plank they throw down to drag the chair over stairs.

Though I guess it was just a temporary solution
