Default Router and bridge

Could you differentiate how the router and bridge function in detail for me please? I always get confused with the two. Plz define how they work?
Any answers will be greatly appreciated.

Router gets the shortest route fron one node to another, whereas a bridge connects one one point in a network to another.

Default Router and bridge

An addition to Strategic Networks Consulting's Switched Technology evaluation series, The 1996 ISDN Router and Bridge Evaluation is the most thorough evaluation currently available of Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) remote access router and bridge products.
