Default Want to know power usage cost

Hi,

I am planning to relocate servers at office to data center. I want to know how do they charge for power usage. Thanks in advance for the response.

Regards,
Wilco

I won't be able to tell you the actual cost but it's a bit costly solution.

Most outsourced data centers will charge a monthly rate for power which depends on how much power your equipment will require. The costs varybased on voltage and amps (eg 120 volt/20Amp or 208 volt/30Amp).

The cost in Southern CA can vary from $300/month to over $1,200/month with the major center center providers----as an example.

Hope that helps you!

yes it depends on your requirement and the area where the dc is located. At some places you can find affordable prices but at some places the prices are too much.

Rightly said princee, The rising number of servers in a data center and the processors getting smaller in size have contributed to increased power consumption in data centers.

The cost can vary but rather than looking for a cheap service provider, some other important considerations should be kept in mind like Contractual flexibility, Experience in handling the desired type of engagement, Size and depth of the provider's resource pool and Strength of methodologies, processes, and project-management capabilities.

depends on your location, here in NYC Metro its $20/amp at a minimum commit of 20 amps per circuit.

Just be careful you dont overestimate the power, calculate and be sure exactly what you are going to use.

Absolutely right, power miscalculations can seriously alter your overall input costs, so they have to be taken care off as precisely as possible.
