Default betbackup bpclntcmd question

We have a netbackup Solaris 8/Linux servers backing up a variety of OSs, Win, solaris 6.7,8,9. We are adding a linux (rehat) client and am not able to comunicate with the netbackup server using the bpclntcmd -pn command.
This linux box is behing a firewall, but so are many of the clients
and I have included the client in the same rule as the other outside
clients. When I added the client to the policies in the netbackup gui, in the
drop down menu, there was no linux OS type. When I start a manual backup of the client, no daemon is started on the client. The server and client can communicate but not using netbackup. Any help that you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
