Default Is a "green" data center possible?

Is it possible to have a "green" data center that is actually effective? With everyone trying to b ecome more environmentally friendly, can you really do that with your data center? I am trying to come up with ways to make changes, but without losing any of the functionality that I currently have.

green data center is not about striking a balance between efficiency and achieving high functionality. it is about using less power for an operation. you can use economizers if the climate in your area is suitable and moderate. this will bring down the cooling needs in a data center.

what areas are you specifically looking at? cooling, power, backup? you can reduce power consumption by using the right kind of cables and wires for internal wiring. using the right kind of equipment with the correct rating also helps.
