Default DataCenter Design

When it comes to datacenter building design, what is the main factor we should consider. Can we able to predict some place for earthquake. How do they normally prevent from natural disaster?. Do they do lots of research and design building due to that?.

Thanks
Ananthan

Identifying a location for building the datacenter is the first important thing. Usually constructing a datacenter in the below mentioned areas are avoided..

1. Natural disasters - Seismically active areas, Tornado, hurricane & floodplain hotspots.
2. Industrial pollution
3. Sources of vibration - Airport, railways, busy highways..

Definitely lots of research will be done before designing a datacenter.

Best Regards,
Zhuhair.

We have collected data on types and frequency of natural disasters and in helping clients search for data center space (or greenfield sites), we look pretty hard at the data.

When there are site selection criteria that makes avoiding a natural risk impossible, we look to mitigate the risk as much as reasonable through design.
