Default Pre-installing cable for data centers?

How common is it for datacenters to pre-install cabling prior to utilizing their space? We are looking at potentially pre-installing some cabling for a datacenter that may have a mix of both mainframes and blade servers, and are trying to figure out the most cost effective way to move forward. Any ideas would be helpful.

I think you need to provide a little more detail to help me understand what you are doing. Is this your DC and you are attempting to work out how much cabling to run around the room?

I am a bit confused as to what you are getting at, too. Especially since it is so easy to lift raised floor tiles and string cable as needed.

I think it is not that common, but it sounds like it might be a valid thing to do if you already know where everything will be. It could cause problems later if you want to move things around, though.
