Post How to setup email alerts on SM IPMI card

I have a standalone SM server with a X7DCL-3 mb and a AOC-SIM1U+ IPMI. Would like to have it email me if anything goes out like a fan in the mobo or in the PS. Most of the docs out there assume your using SNMP monitors. I just want it to send a simple email if anything goes wrong. Is that doable? Anyone have a good link for how to do that?

I opened a call with SM support and what he sent me was info on how to setup SNMP, not email.

Thanks!

Cool

As the IPMI card doesn't have that functionality built-in, you will need to monitor the card using SNMP as suggested. You can then configure your SNMP monitoring to generate an e-mail every time certain events occur.

What is the purpose of the email address in the ALerts Configuration? SNMP doesn't need it.
