Default Future of data center

As we know data center business is changing rapidly because of the visualization and green IT.

Any changes will happen on the following designs? If so, feel free to provide your comments and input.

-security
-fire protection
-consolidation and virtualization
-automation
-environmental control
-UPS
-Battery banks
-Diesel generators

Anything else might get change?

hello whitten,
when you talk of green data center, you will obviously expect the power consumption to come down. So, no doubt, there will be change in the cooling mechanisms (this is in relation to data center environment control). fuel cells will replace battery banks. you will not have to deal with acid leaks anymore. there are thoughts of automating the data center functioning. Automating aims at doing to the data center what SCADA does in the power system grids.

There is a good chance even power cabling may move on to super-conducting cables. With technology advancing at a fast rate, anything is possible!

Promising yes, but until we advance enough to cut capital costs greatly even the best technology will take ages to be implemented on a huge scale.

superconducting cables? :/ i understand that cooling is freely available but the equipments also generate a good amount of heat. noone would like it if data is disturbed when the systems start heating up and the cooling is malfunctioning for some reason. data is, after all, critical

Completely agree... visualization and green IT help to make lot of changes in data center. ICS SCADA networks and provides compliance, change management, network visualization, and protection against human errors, inside and outside threats.
