Default KVM over IP

Hi,

Just ordered one of these for one of my Dell racks - any tips & tricks on setting up / installing them, or are they fairly idiot proof? I'm familiar with standard KVMs, but this is my first IP one.

Thanks

Dan

Don't know the Dell's, but it is pretty straight forward.

First you have to add an IP. Some units boot on dhcp the first time, others have a management console port. Most of them work on a java client, and a windows client is available also most of the time.

I would advise to lock down the access with an IP or mac filter, or keep access in a restricted (v)lan. The menu would be pretty clear on that I think.

Make sure you have adequate security enabled, think on, you are giving potential access to your whole rack outside the safety of your data centre
