Default Migrating and Instaling Servers

Can anyone recommend an easier method of moving and instaling servers and other IT equipment?

As Ken said, easier than what?

If you're on about physical move, I'm not a huge fan of virtulisation... but convert everything to Virtual Machines in your existing infrastructure, setup your new cluster of hosts at a new DC and just transfer the VM's over.

Swap the hard disks? Or change the ip's in advance preferably the ip of the second NIC so the machine won't go offline.

Hire someone else like a professional Server and IT migrations company. Not that many around though...

Here This company would be a good start

That it would, this forum does have a slow turn around sense very few of us look at it everyday. I know I poke in once a day or every other. Obviously KenB is on all the time.

Anyone else?

I see almost no conversions occurring on the forum, I often wonder why? It’s not like other forums where somebody has a rant or gets abused for a dumb post, are we all too nice.

Could it be that all of the problems in DC land have been solved.

We just need some more tasty posts that really draw some people into the discussion.. or we just need pictures for all the techs with short attention spans.

OK will do. I will try to start a discussion and see if we get some comments.

PS. I'm a Tech by training.

Moving server form rack to rack or from datacenter to datacenter is a tough job.
