I don't really understand your question but I'll try to give you some help regarding certifications. There are several popular "groups" of certifications:
Microsoft: MCSE, MCSA, etc etc
Cisco (networking): CCNA, CCDA, CCNP, CCIE, etc etc
CompTIA (general): A+, Network+, Server+, Linux+, eBiz+, etc etc
Sun: (don't know much about that, it's Java related)
You can read the objectives of the certifications on the websites.
What else do you need to know? Feel free to ask...

Certification!!!
Certification is just a passing certificate provided to you by the major companies that will be recognized and accepted all over the world. SUN, CISCO, Microsoft and Now the website W3Schools.com is giving certificates.
It simply takes you apart from all those who have knowledge but don't have a certification.

RedHat also offer certification program, which is a bit difficult comparing to other ones. They are Redhat certified technicians (RHCT), Redhat certified Engneers (RHCE) etc.

Yes this is true certification adds more professionalism in your profile. You can become a certified professional. But it is also necessary to show your knowledge as per your certificate, because some people get the certificates in other way and doesn't have that much knowledge so this should not be the case.
