You should know that the ESX version you are using actually supports a different syntax. The version is important for the mount command. What you can do is to use CIFS keyword. I think you are using the SMBFS keyword and that is why it is not mounting.
Use this two options to fix it: dir_mode=0755 , file_mode=0755
