I wonder if the equipment ends up costing less, and the building itself may have fewer hoops through which to jump - and probably a good bit less red tape to cut through to get it going.

Do you have your servers all together on shelves or racks? How much space do you have between them? It seems like cooling would be easier if there was enough space between that they aren't heating...

I'm sure there are other colors - or patterns, even - that would serve just as well to hide things, if that's the goal. I prefer lighter colors on the walls myself.

I know there is such a thing as too cold, but cooler would be better than warmer, in my opinion. That way there is less needed to cool the room, since the servers generate heat.

I have seen people use pallets to raise up the area where the servers are; and I have seen people use those wire mesh shelves to increase air flow. Just a couple different thoughts.

Of course, the laptop will help from anywhere - as long as you have internet service. I have a mifi unit so that I can connect from wherever I am - as long as there is cell signal.

At what temperature do you keep your server room? I know that the computers need cooler temperatures to help them run properly, but I'm not sure how low to go.

I definitely think it would be easier to stick with one kind. It helps to have them the same in case you need to replace them; finding parts to fix them would be easier if the parts will be the same...

It works sort of like a car radiator. The liquid is enclosed in a sealed container, but the movement of it carries the heat away from the equipment.
