So you get alerted by some type of software...

So you get alerted by some type of software right? And it its not managed then I assume that the clients should find our rather quickly if there are any server issues.

The UPS seems like a must but what to do when a long power outage occurs. I think that the only solution would be to get a large backup generator which would kick in before the UPS dies.

I currently live in Thailand and I can also state that the power supply is definitely not stable enough for a good data center. The only way to work around this would be to have large generators.

I think the whole "green" angle is also great from a marketing point of view. I have seen several hosting companies for example use this angle and they seem to be doing rather well.
