Bicsi

I recently read the BCISI 002 is trying to make datacenters to their class. Anyone know the details about this matter? What could be the possible outcome?

BICSI was released in 2010 and they categorized datacenter to facility class of FC. They didnt want to complicate the tier terminology as well. Although the first release missed some areas such as electrical section. It was again released in the next year which is known as the BICSI 002. In this version, there wasnt much of a change from the first one. The FC version was kind of same. BICSI is like a guide for datacenter and it helps to understand all the areas of the facility. Its making datacenter more efficient.

BICSI 002 Standard

BICSI international standards are datacenter standardization.

In 2014 standard documents there are some of following parameters are defined.
  • The BICSI Availability Class Structure for all major aspects of data centers
  • Modular and “container” data centers
  • DCIM and building systems
  • DC power
  • Hot and cold aisles
  • Multi-data center architecture and data center service outsourcing
  • Energy Efficiency

The BICSI International Standards Program reviews its standards at regular intervals. By the end of the fifth year after a standard’s publication, the standard will be reaffirmed, rescinded, or revised according to the submitted updates and comments from all interested parties.
