WIFI and your laptop
What about the best WIFI providers for laptop access? Can anyone give me some ideas, I want it to be mobile and do not want to have to go looking for a provider in each location.

I'd like to see the answer to this question also. I'm really interested in a mobile wireless solution.

Better get a 3G USB dongle. It's cheaper and readily available almost everywhere.

Wi-Fi ready laptops can automatically get the signal of a Wi-Fi connection, regardless of the provider. It can connect to it as long as it doesn't have a password.
With regards to mobile, I suggest you get a 3G/4G Phones. They have internet and wifi capabilities. |

Wifi is local - about 100 feet. If you wish wireless broadband, acquaintance a corpuscle buzz company. A company's broadband coverage is about the same as their cellular coverage. If you want to be on the company's LAN, you need XP Pro or Vista Business on your laptop. You need a VPN server on the company's network, and the client on your laptop.

I have a wirless router also. I use Comcast as my internet provider, but I have lots of trouble keeping the signal. I've had them come out several times, but whatever they do to "fix" it only lasts a few days. I am considering AT&T.

In the past, prior to using a 3G iPad, I used to use Boingo. Their service was always pretty good in airports, etc.
