Help with backup

I recently came across an issue with my backups and they do not seem to hold all information that should be backed up. What would you suggest I do to ensure that I am getting a full backup and that there is no problems occurring during the backup.

What program are you using? What OS are you using? Without a lot more information from you there is no way i can really help you. What information is missing?

First of all you should plan a backup procedure.
Depending on the situation, you may need to recover:

* The whole server - all databases, files and folder/
* Specific database
* Specific table
* Specific files and etc

Please make sure to periodically test your recovery procedures by actually conducting recoveries. Actual recoveries happen under stress and this is not the time for practice.

I suggest to backup dataregularly to ensure that you are getting full backup. At the very minimum, data should be backed up weekly or even more often, depending on the importance of the data you need to protect.

As I've heard around here, if you backup with a company, they'll take care of the things for you, guaranteeing that the data will always be available to you, should you wish it.
