Certifications

How important are certifications in today's world? How much do you think it shows that the person really knows and what do you look for when hiring a person.

Certification is just a bonus, it would help the candidate to get in while shortlisting the resumes by the employer. Also, certain companies hire only certified people if they have partnership with that particular vendor (Eg: Redhat partnership programme).

I agree with you that certification provides the eligibility but how about skill, because to get skill without proper guidance in any field is not possible.

Hii attagirl, Certification is important like our academic record. But with that it is also necessary to have good knowledge with the certification at the time of interview.

Many companies will like to have under-grad/graduate degree in computer science with certification, to create first impression, also with growing market competition, graduate youth are given preferrence.
