Datacenter info

Hi there,

Our company has several cabinets in Equinix . We came across abandoned datacenter that`s fully built out.
I need to figure out how many servers we could fit in there to see if it`s worth taking over.

We use mostly P4s CPUs in our server, each server has 1 HDD and they all use 300W power supplies

The datacenter we`re looking at has 100x 20AMP circuits which I know could handle about 100x15 servers = 1500 machines
My biggest concern is the cooling. The place is about 2800sq ft and it has 3 DataAir 13-Ton HVAC with rooftop mounted condensers.
I am concerned that 39Ton of AC is not enough for 1500 servers.

Does anybody know proper formula that would help me to determine how many servers we could put in there

Thanks

Damien

Well first you need to figure out how much heat those machines release.

Heres a white paper that should help you calculate this out:

Heres some articles on data center cooling to help you out:

Heres what servint uses:

cooling

Some calculations I recently made for somone came out to

1.5 Tons of cooling per 1 rack utilizing a full 24 AMP of power.

Data Cenetr Evaluation

We evaluate data centers for customers all the time. We can evaluate the facility based on a set of as-built construction documents or based on a field survey.

KJBi is a brokerage, consulting, project management firm dealing primarily in the data center and technology space. We typically are engaged to search for a facility based on city, size, type of facility etc..

While we represent the end user (purchaser or lesser), the fee (commission) for our brokerage services is usually paid by the Landlord, when and if a deal transpires.

We also work on a consulting basis for a fixed or hourly fee.

If we represent you as a broker most if not all of or evaluation is included under teh brokerage service.
