knowing dc of an IP?
 
hello all, if i have an IP address and I want to know which data centre the IP belongs to. How can i know this? thanx for any help...

This site will tell you the registered owner of an IP address: http://www.arin.net/whois/.

Apparently my IP falls under the Asia Pacific Network Information Centre in Milton, Australia. They cover the entire 121.x.x.x IP range.

Using whois on an IP address seems to yeild a bunch of info including the person IPs are registered to. GeoIP can allow you to see where the general location of the server is.

For whois search you can also use http://www.dnsstuff.com/ as it gives some extra information and also tries to locate the data center using Google maps
