Going Cloud

Are large corporations lagging behind when it comes to implementing cloud tech.? What are your views on this?

DC_King 01-23-2012 12:16 PM

well, it is a new technology. not many companies want to invest in something that they dont know much about. the security is obviously a concern. since the security of cloud is still shady, no one wants to risk it. Admitted, it is cheaper and is every small companies' life saver. but the larger companies have the resources. why would they deliberately risk it?

Thats the reason why there are so many market niches during the software and hardware change. Small companies like http://www.effective-contactcenters.com/ can provide the new technology to a lot of business much more faster, than when each small company has its own cloud. But I think this will change in some years, when the clouds will be connected and owned by the big ones. Amazon & Co have just started.

The concept of cloud computing may be in its intermediate stages of development but ad mentioned by DC_King there are a lot of loop holes in the system itself. Security itself is a major concern, if the large corporation can afford the infrastructure and still generate profits, why not - not go cloud?

When it comes to financial savings, figuring out the advantages of implementing cloud computing can be a tricky business.

Cloud hosting gives many advantages. If one of the electrical substations that feeds our facility goes offline due to blackout, our second electrical source is always online and active and will take over the load.

what has electrical substations got to do with cloud?

the problem also is the vendor lock in that happens when you subscribe to a cloud service, if you are not satisfied with the service and you have built a lot of applications on one platform, finding another host offering the same platform is a tedious process.migration becomes extremely difficult in such cases.
