SAN path failure

We have SAN storage and have 2 paths. One of the path is failing most of the time. What may be the problem. Do you think problem with GBIC module? What would you recommend to fix or troubleshoot?

Thanks in advance.

It could be any number of failures - bad HBA, cable, GBIC/SFP, I/O Module, switch port, switch....I would go about it by process of elimination. It might help if you can describe the hardware brands/models you are using

Thanks a lot. We have emulex card and I used lputil to debug and found out that problem with HBA card. Thanks a ton.

Get some debugging enabled and trace the logs- take it logically..

- Is it just one server or all servers that get impacted?
- What do your SAN switches tell you? Are one of your trunk links flapping?

Those are a couple of the things I'd start to be thinking about.
