How do I set up a cloud server connected to a WiFi hotspot?

Hello,

I am looking for some clarification on setting up a cloud server connected to a WiFi hotspot.

After setting up the WiFi hotspot, the Captive Portal/DNS Redirector would send the user to the login page that I am looking to store on a Cloud Server.

For more clarification, once a user connects to a the Hotspot, they open up their browser. The first page that opens up would be a Login page. The user must then click on the “I Accept” button in order to gain access to the internet.

My questions are:

1. Is it possible to connect to a Cloud Server if the user is not connected to the internet? I'm almost certain you can allow certain pages to bypass the Captive Portal (block).

2. Is there a specific type of Cloud server I need?

3. How can I link files from the cloud server onto a .html file. For example, if I want to embed a video that is stored on my cloud server.

Any additional information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Creating a Wi-Fi Internet hotspot service from scratch can seem like a daunting task. I had many sleepless nights trying to get to grips with FreeRadius, DD-WRT, Chillispot etc. I hope that this How To helps you to avoid some of the problems I encountered along the way.
