We have a kitchen that is part of our dc allthough it is in it's own seperate room and at least 40 feet from any racks with a corridor inbetween.

Only issue we had was burnt toast kept setting off the fire alarms, so the toaster had to go.

We just have a microwave, fridge, dishwasher and a kettle in there.

I think I read an analysis of causes of Central Office fires a few years ago, and the leading cause of fires was use of "unapproved food preparation devices" within the central office (e.g.: someone smuggled a hot-plate or microwave in).

I've joked that if I had my way, there would be no CNG lines within 1/2 mile of the DC, and no water except fire hydrants outside. Eyewash stations would be self-contained; water for the break room would come in carboys, and staff can relieve themselves in a Porta-John/Biffs outside, with hand sanitizer

I guess data center specifications became more strict. What are current suggestions on making a kitchen next to the data center? Any suggestions?
