Data Center Downtime Costs Businesses Millions

All should know what will happen if the DC goes down.

Companies put aside a lot of money to ensure the performance of their data center. Even with advances in infrastructure, data centers still produce a lot of hard- and software downtime. Sometimes the problem can keep a business out of action for days on end. The cost of unplanned power outages can damage a business - anything from damage of reputation to lost revenue. In September 2010, Virgin Blue's airline's booking systems went down. Business was out of action for 11 days with hundreds of flights and thousands of customers being affected. Research is critical to find solutions on how to cope during outages and reduce production risks.

Business continuity and Disaster recovery

Agreed that such outages can cost millions to companies. To mitigate such huge losses, it is utmost important for companies to work on their disaster recovery and Business continuity plans. For each business there is Dollar value attached for outage or any non-performance. By preparing DR strategy these losses can be minimized.
