EMC symmetrix VS dell equlogic

Guys,

I know EMC storage is good, but compare to dell it is expensive. Have you guys tried dell eqlogic storage solution?

Thanks,
Nike

One data point here. We've been using Equallogic equipment for several years with good success. For us, the simplicity and cost savings of iSCSI outweigh the reduction in performance compared to fiber-based SANs.

We are getting ready to deploy our first Equallogic SAN next quarter. These will be used primarily as a backend for our VMware farm. The cost per GB is a little better on the MD3000i which we are currently using. But having the ability to replicate between devices is a great benefit to some of our future plans.

In our environment we also use EMC SAN's. We have a CX3-20, and CX3-40 running approximately 30TB of disk. For some of our clients the EMC SAN is the only choice because of the required iops. Both devices have there fit. Can you better describe your requirement?

Thanks a lot Keith and White. This is what I was looking for, when I compare the price EMC is bit high, but this is a new client so we can use eqlogic, it is really cheap compare to EMC storage. We might go with eqlogic. If I need any other info, let you know.

As far as my experience goes, i think EMC storage is far better than Equallogic. Its expensive though, but worths its price.

Storage

Have you looked at the new storagetek / sun generation? There are a lot of improvements. I got to play with some of their stuff and it is great.
The performance really improved. Management is also fairly simple.

You should maybe check out InforTrend as well - they are at the cheaper end of the market, but seem to have quite a solid product offering.

I haven't tried it personally but i heard many users happy with it.It's good but it depends on you,if you have the budget then you can go to EMC storage.
