Generator
I've decided to start working on a very small data center. I'm to the point of finding equipment to get started with. In reference to generators, where should I start in trying to decide what I need to go with? Are there any guidelines you can offer me?

Several factors to consider. This article is a quick overview: The Data Center Journal - Where IT, Facilities and Design Meet - Proper Sizing of Your Generator for your Data Center.

Key thing with sizing your generators is looking at power factors, phase loadings, ensuring cables are the right rating and that your AMF/ATS panel is up to scratch. Remember, a generator *ISN'T* a replacement for a UPS - you still need to provide power when your generators are firing up.

I think the key is designing fir what you need and can budget for - You need to design your whole power - gen set to match and be the most efficient. You need to know several factors - What specific square footage you will want, raised floor or not, What kind of power requirements you have will allow you to help design power and cooling option to help price them out.
