datacenter staffs acitivity

Hello,

Is you datacenter staffs monitor amber lights on your servers?

Could one of the resident experts care to explain to me what this exactly means. What does the OP mean by checking the amber lights on the servers and is this an important issue?

I think that he is referring to the orange lights on the servers; ie. when a disk fails most servers will flash a light or turn it orange.

Owh and yes, our staff does that :)

ALl part of the standard service. For our managed customers, we are alerted and don't need to monitor the lights so to speak, for our colocation customers we do weekly data centre walkarounds to make them aware of any of their problems.

So you get alerted by some type of software right? And it its not managed then I assume that the clients should find our rather quickly if there are any server issues.

Ya, We do monitor that too, When a disk fails most servers used to flash a light (Orange color).
