I'd like to know peoples opinions and thoughts on humidification in the data center.

Currently we are in a multi-tenant building with a boiler providing steam to our data center for humidity control. The steam is injected into the air flow after it has been cooled by our Liebert CRACs.

I'm looking for a backup system for this, just in case the boiler goes out, so that my humidity doesn't drop below at least 20% RH. This has happened in the past during these dry winter months when the boiler was down for maintenance.

Also I'd like to look at a permanent solution as an alternative to the steam provided by the boiler.

Any suggestions or company name/referrals would be appreciated.

We use self-contained units like this: http://www.herrmidifier.com/herrtronic-6000.asp

Honeywell makes industrial humidification units that should do the trick.
