Wondering if anyone's having or had any power issues at their datacenter that might be able to offer some advice.

1st, What is your total Watts/Square Foot max that you can use in your rack? With our provider, it's 40 Watts/SF. Is that low, normal, high?

2nd, Does anyone have any suggestions on a cheap power meter that will show Watts, Amps, and Volts? The reason I say cheap is because we have 20 servers and I figure I'll have to plug 3 or 4 up at a time over a week to get all the equipment. I'm trying to perform an audit on all of our servers to see what's pulling what. We have 2 120 Volt and 1 208 Volt circuits. I looked at the home ones, but they certainly do not go up to 208V, so I'm looking for alternatives.

Thanks

Kevin

How many racks do you have? You might consider purchasing a rack PDU with built-in metering for each. APC, BayTech.net, ServerTech and Pulizzi all make them.

you can do PDU Strip with meters on them or you can get a tools that is a clamp meter that allows you to check for voltage on power cord which will do what you are asking. What is the problem you are having and maybe I can help address that - I design computer rooms and make them more Green as well. Let me know how I can help.
