I'm not having any luck locating best practice infomation on A/C life span for data centres. I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction.

Maintenance makes a big difference and like an old car can be driven forever if you are willing to suffer repairs from time to time.
It also depends on your situation. For example, if you are in a center and plan on moving in a few years repairs to extend the life are probably worthwhile, if you are moving into a 15 year old facilty on a new ten year lease, you should porbably insist on replacement of the equipment up front.
Smoe general ranges:
Cooling Towers - 10 Years
DX Systems - 15 Yrs
Chillers - 20 Yrs
Pumps - seals every couple of years, motors 10-15yrs+
