I need some help finding a datacenter for game hosting, I have a tower server already but not sure what else I need and If the datacenter host towers or If I need a Rack unit!

I am eventually wanting to start a game server business, so I want to get my feet wet with this server to learn the in's and out's before getting into deep.

Colocation is this already provided servers or do I provide the hardware myself?

Here's a directory of game server providers I put together a while back. The providers are ordered by Google PageRank, which is a reflect of link popularity rather than level of service, but may be helpful in identifying which GSPs have been around for a while and have a reasonable reputation:

Game Hosting Guide (http://www.gamehostingguide.com/index.php?c=3)

A significant number of GSPs host servers at Insomnia360, The Planet's game server division. Several other providers are operated by ISPs, and thus are likely to have decent connectivity. Pricing is all over the map, as you might expect. Hope this helps.

It all depends, Are you looking for any specific locaito to hose your server? If you are going for co-locaion solution you need to provide the hardeare and they will setup for you.

Do you have any specific budget in your mind?

Thanks

I want to start with the East Coast, Atlanta or DC/VA and the budget? I don't want to get in over my head to start off with, the cheaper the better and I know " you get what you pay for", so I am prepared for that. I just want to get familiar with the owning of my own server first, I have been running a rented server for over a year now, so I want to see what is on the other side!

For Atlanta, I'd suggest GNAX, however I believe they are full right now, but with more space under construction (I believe its supposed to be ready by April).

What game do you want to host? What time of day are you going to be using it?

Dear GamersInc,

referring to your request:
- what is the bandwidth and traffic you expect?
- are you in a B2C market?
- is your server rackable?
- would you consider Europe, i.e. Luxembourg, as an alternative?

Best,
