What are the security concerns In Virtualization?

Some that I can think of are

Sprawl. Creating virtual servers is so easy that many companies go overboard, creating too many. Just like physical servers, these virtual servers are vulnerable to hackers and need to be routinely updated with security patches

Virtual threats. Another vulnerability of virtualization comes from the virtual world. if the hypervisor is attacked, all of the servers on that platform are compromised.

All software needs to be upto date and Firewall must be up and running to avoid any break ins.

There shoudl be a Server creation protocol. Virtual servers should not be created arbitrarily, or they can quickly grow out of hand for IT staff. Companies should set up a specific protocol for creating servers so they can be tracked and maintained.

I agree with Vmlover that Companies should set up a specific protocol for creating servers so they can be tracked and maintained.

If you are looking for the updates. VMware will itself look for it and pop up as a child window to go for the updates, The only manual thing has to be done is to click on yes ;)

More over you have to check for system configuration capabilities.

All the best Bro

The benefits of supporting multiple virtual machines on a single server have become obvious to the server manufacturers themselves, and they have modified their server designs accordingly.
