MainOne Cable to Open Data Center in Nigeria
MainOne one of the communication service company has plans to build a standard data center in Nigeria. MainOne Nigeria facility will include 600 racks and expected to be fully operational by 2014. This facility will be capable of providing services for telecom operators and Internet service providers (ISPs).
Chief Executive Officer of MainOne, Funke Opeke said, “The Data Centre will boost infrastructure in the country. The data centre would have full capacity to host large and small volume of sensitive data from small and big organizations. Opeke added, “Those organizations that are hosting their data outside the country should begin to make adequate arrangement to re-route their data to Nigeria and get them securely hosted in our planned new data centre for Nigeria.”
MainOne’s CFO (Chief Financial Officer), Babatunde Dada stated that data centers would be a physical facility
that would Nigeria in a special way. Opeke is one of the female voices in the African tech industry stated data centers to build in Nigeria would have enough bandwidth to host a large number of sensitive data for various organizations.
