T5 DATA CENTERS EXPANDS FOOTPRINT INTO OREGON

Atlanta based data center provider T5 Data Center announced that it has planned to set up a massive data center in the Pacific North West. This data center would be called the T5@Portland. This news was confirmed on Tuesday by company officials. The company has bought a 15 acre plot at Hillsboro, Oregon, and is putting the finishing touches to the design of this 20,000 sq ft facility. This facility is a purpose built, LEED certified data center. It also has the credit for being the first wholesale data center of its kind in the entire region of Oregon. The construction of this data center is slated to begin in the early 2013, and the data halls are scheduled to be completed by fall 2013. The facility boasts of a design that is well suited for the climate of Oregon. It has ensured that it uses very less power for cooling, and for the heating of water. It also features an indirect evaporative cooling system with customized air handlers.

“The Pacific Northwest is a well-established destination for enterprise users looking for safe, efficient data center solutions,” said T5 president Pete Marin. “Hillsboro offers the best combination of low taxes, low power costs, a reliable infrastructure and easy access for out-of-region companies. We anticipate the T5@Portland data center to be a showcase for responsible development, and will demonstrate to customers that we can design and engineer to embrace energy efficiencies while continuing to offer our clients the resiliency and uptime they require.” This center is a part of the company’s expansion strategy. The company has data centers in the regions of Los Angeles, Atlanta, Charlotte, and Dallas.
